A performance evaluation combines SLEIP® gait analysis with a thorough physical examination, detailed performance history, and targeted diagnostic testing when indicated. Performance evaluations can be helpful for horses experiencing:

SLEIP® uses artificial intelligence to analyze your horse’s gait and identify subtle asymmetries that may not be readily apparent to the human eye. By quantifying movement during different phases of the evaluation, SLEIP® provides valuable information to help better understand how your horse is moving and where potential abnormalities may be originating. SLEIP® use during a rehabilitation program gives objective data to follow and track for the horses progress.

This consultation will create a detailed rehab plan customized to the athlete’s injury. Referencing history, imaging, and diagnosis, we develop a timeline and frequency for rechecks. Nutrition and shoeing consult is included. Therapeutic modalities are recommended based on injury. Sedation recommendations are offered when necessary.

Lameness evaluations using objective data via inertia sensors and AI. This allows for accurate, repeatable measurements of movement asymmetry, reducing reliance on subjective visual assessment alone. It improves detection of subtle or multi-limb lameness, supports clearer communication between veterinarians and owners, and allows reliable monitoring of response to treatment over time.

Radiographs (X-rays) provide detailed images of the horse's bones and joints and are an essential part of diagnosing many orthopedic conditions. Radiographs can be integrated into a physical, performance, or lameness examination. Radiographs can help identify conditions such as arthritis, bone remodeling, fractures, developmental abnormalities, and other changes that may affect comfort and performance. They can also be used to establish a baseline, monitor changes over time, or further investigate findings identified through other diagnostic examinations.

We use high-quality diagnostic ultrasound to assess tendons, ligaments, muscles, joints, and other soft tissue structures for abnormalities that may contribute to pain, lameness, or reduced performance provides real-time imaging that allows our veterinarians to evaluate both the structure and appearance of tissues in detail. It can be particularly valuable when investigating soft tissue injuries, monitoring healing and rehabilitation, and assessing areas identified during a performance or lameness examination.

Equine medical manipulation (also known as chiro) refers to hands-on techniques and controlled mechanical interventions used to assess, treat, and restore musculoskeletal and soft-tissue function in horses. It combines precise manual skills, biomechanical understanding, and clinical judgment to address pain, restricted movement, compensatory patterns, and performance-limiting dysfunction.

Proper dental balance is essential for your horse’s comfort and athletic performance. Starting with a thorough oral exam and followed by minimized reduction of enamel to achieve balance and alignment by the least aggressive means.

Orthobiologic Therapies

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP)
PRP is produced from the horse’s own blood and contains concentrated platelets and associated biologic factors. It may be used to support the management of certain tendon, ligament, and joint conditions and can be incorporated into a broader regenerative treatment and rehabilitation program.

Pro-Stride®
Pro-Stride® is an autologous orthobiologic product prepared from the horse’s own blood. It concentrates platelets and anti-inflammatory components and may be used for the management of joint inflammation and other conditions. Treatment is individualized based on the horse’s condition and clinical needs.

Stem Cell Therapy
Stem cell-based therapies may be considered for selected orthopedic and musculoskeletal conditions. Depending on the application, stem cells may be used to support tissue repair and help address conditions involving joints, tendons, ligaments, or other structures. Our veterinarians determine whether stem cell therapy is appropriate based on the diagnosis and treatment goals.

Bone Marrow Aspirate
Bone marrow aspirate provides a source of cells and biologically active components that may be used as part of regenerative treatment. Bone marrow can be collected from the horse and prepared for use in selected orthopedic applications, with treatment recommendations based on the specific tissue or joint being treated.
